About Westerley lake

Great site for the angler and anyone wanting a little peace and quiet…Geoff and Barbara, the owners are very polite and helpful and keep the site and fishery in great condition. The fishing during our vist was excellent, responding to method feeder fished to the island, and to surface fished baits when conditions were right. Margin fishing with a short pole is probably another killer method if you like to pole fish. As the pics show I caught carp to double figures, but there are a variety of other species, including some specimen perch to be caught. (see the website for more info).

Site is open 1st March to 2nd December.

This beautiful, natural looking lake was designed by the National Rivers Authority, and being spring-fed has superb water quality and an environment that is ideal for the large numbers of coarse fish that inhabit the lake. The lake is an outstanding silver fish fishery, and is stocked with roach, bream. tench, gudgeon, crucian carp, perch, and chub to over six pounds.

There are large numbers of carp well into double figures, and both mirror and common carp to over twenty seven pounds have been caught, and also a grass carp of twenty two 1/2 pounds.

  • Anglers who are fishing for carp must have an unhooking mat and a large landing net.
  • Fishing is from 7am until sunset, and day tickets are available from the Lodge after 8am.
  • All anglers arriving after 8am must call at the Lodge first and purchase a day ticket before fishing.
  • There are no matches on the lake, and the lake is open all year.
  • 20 pitches,  a small number of  which are seasonal pitches.

  • All the pitches are 6m from the adjacent units.

  • The majority of our pitches are hard standing with grass for the awning area.

  • Electric hook ups to the majority of our pitches.

  • Heated washrooms with free hot showers.

  • Seperate washing up room which also has tourist information and a book swap facility.
